Several events are happening around Durango this week, from on-mountain activities at Purgatory Resort to family-friendly programming at The Powerhouse and upcoming health services in April. Purgatory Resort hosts a full weekend of events Saturday and Sunday, including live music, après-ski parties, Telemark skiing celebrations, and snowboard demos. The Powerhouse celebrates the 2026 Winter Olympics with hands-on activities for all ages, and REMS Southwest returns to Durango in April offering radiation-free bone health screenings. Several Valentine's weekend events are happening at Purgatory Resort On Saturday, February 14th, the resort will feature live music specialty drinks and an Après ski party throughout the day. The Maybe Tomorrow Band performs at midday, followed by an afternoon après party with DJ Xeno and B3AU Saturday also includes Telemark Telefestivus, a full day celebration of Telemark skiing. The event offers free gear demos from leading brands along with beginner and intermediate lessons. Then on Sunday, February 15th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Venture Snowboard's Demo Day gives riders a chance to test their boards made in Silverton. The weekend wraps up Sunday afternoon with a Ska Brewing après party from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Purgy's patio, featuring beer specials and a chance to win a Venture Snowboard. Attendance is free. The Powerhouse celebrates the 2026 Winter Olympics With its Power of Movement Event on Monday February 16th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Tuesday February 17th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The event includes Winter Olympic themed crafts and family friendly competitions, all included with admission, members get in free. Looking ahead to April, REMS Southwest returns to Durango April 14th and 15th to offer radiation free bone health screenings using FDA cleared technology appointment slots are filling up now and residents are encouraged to register in advance. The REMS scan uses high resolution ultrasound to assess bone density and bone quality with immediate results and a detailed report provided within 72 hours. The cost is $250.
