The Upper Pine River Fire Protection District seeks voter support for a sales tax initiative on the November ballot. The 1% sales tax increase will apply to goods purchased within the district, excluding groceries, prescription medications, and other goods deemed essential by Colorado law. The initiative is estimated to generate about 490,000 annually. Funds will support staffing, training, maintaining and replacing equipment, upgrading safety gear, and equipping fire stations. The Fire Protection District reports a 30% increase in call volume since 2019 and says that population growth has strained services. The measure will be question seven B on the November ballot. Visit the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District for more information. The Four Corner's Office for Resource Efficiency invites the community to learn about local innovation, solar energy, and climate action at its annual Beyond Solar Tour and gathering on Sunday, September 21st.
