The redevelopment would turn the site into a mixed use area with retail, restaurants and housing. Local first aims to support local businesses and advocate for them to be included in the redevelopment. Local first plans to send representatives to attend durango's Urban Renewal Authority and Community Development Committee meetings, and review public plans as they are submitted. Spine Colorado hosted a ribbon cutting on Thursday, December 5th to celebrate the launch of a state-of-the-art spinal imaging technology in Durango Spine Colorado. Patients now have access to advanced care without commuting to a big city hospital. The imaging system called EOS Edge captures high resolution images in both sitting and standing positions to provide multiple views of the musculoskeletal system in less than four minutes. The exam does not involve needles or dyes and reduces radiation exposure by more than 80% compared to conventional x-rays. Purgatory Resort announce its holiday events schedule featuring family friendly activities in scenic winter experiences. From December through the beginning of January, families can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus from one 30 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 21st, and finish the day with a tree lighting celebration. On Saturday December 27th, guests can participate in a whiskey tasting at hoodies reception venue at the base area. Then celebrate New Year's Eve on the slopes with purgatory, annual Torch Light Parade, and fireworks display at the base area from six to 7:00 PM followed by an Italian buffet style dinner at hoodies from six to 8:00 PM. Purgatory also offers scenic snow cat tours on select dates in December, and a moonlit snowcat ride followed by an on mountain five course dining experience on Saturday January 3rd.
