Local artist Shanda Akin invites the community to an evening of art, connection, and conversation at Four Leaves Winery on Friday, March 20th, starting at 6:00 PM The reception will feature her newest collection along with an artist talk offering a behind the scenes look at her process and the ideas behind her work. Drinks and light bites will be provided, and guests are encouraged to bring a friend and wear black and white attire. The event is free and open to the public. The Durango Arts Center presents Trey Parker's Cannibal: The Musical, a darkly comedic retelling of the true story of Alfred Packer, the only person ever convicted of cannibalism in America. The show follows Packer as he recounts his ill-fated journey through the Colorado territory. The production runs March 20th through the 29th. The show is recommended for ages 16 and older, and tickets are available at durangoarts.org. And looking ahead to March 27th, the Southwestern Water Conservation District hosts its 42nd annual water seminar at the Sky Ute Casino Resort in Ignacio. This year's theme One Watershed Many Voices brings together water managers, tribal leaders, scientists, policy makers, recreation advocates, and community members for a full day of exploring the Southwest basin's most pressing water challenges. The event runs from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and will feature dynamic panels on water quantity and quality, drought and wildfire impacts, tribal water perspectives, and water-based economies.
