Thousands March in Third No Kings Protest

March 31, 2026

An estimated 3,200 protesters gathered in Buckley Park Saturday for Durango's third No Kings rally and march — part of a nationwide wave of protests spanning more than 3,300 rallies across all 50 states against the Trump administration. The crowd then took to Main Avenue — closed to traffic for the occasion — marching south toward Fifth Street. Speakers rallied attendees around concerns of balance of powers. My concern is for democracy in the United States. We have a government of the people, by the people and for the people. And in essence, the wealthy are receiving great advantages and those who are less privileged are being cut off. Our environment is being degraded. The Clean Air Act, clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and the EPA have have fallen into disarray and things are happening in our country that are going to leave our future generations greatly compromised.

I'm here today because I love my country deeply and I believe it's my duty as a citizen to help her be her best, but even more. I'm here because I love God, because that must be my first allegiance always. And my love of God commands me to love my neighbor. Also, I must care about all of God's children. Love your neighbor who doesn't look like you, love, like you speak, like you pray, like you vote like you.

Things are being conducted by our president that are violating the Constitution. And so it, the judiciary and the legislative branches are both basically under the sway of the President. To the degree that we've lost the balance of powers that creates safety and as well democracy. We have to vote.

Too many of us stand back and silence ourselves, convinced that we don't have the authority to impact anything. Even as a person. With relatively little experience in this world, I can see the blueprint of a beautiful future for our country. One with systems derived by and for its people. We all have the power to make things better, but we must organize, work together, and act now. We deserve a better future.
