Park Elementary is teaching students about creating a better future for everyone. On Thursday, May 15th, students showcased their Better Worlds Week service-based learning projects to the public. You're watching the Local News Network, brought to you by Dunkin' Donuts and M&R Plumbing. I'm Sadie Smith. Better Worlds Week is an annual national event that is part of the EL Education curriculum. Students take part in a service-based learning project related to stewardship of the earth, animals, and others. Projects included kits made for the Women's Resource Center, short films on water awareness, and organized food drives, among others.

The really bigger goal is to inspire students and make them see that they are changemakers in our communities.

Each class in grades preschool through fifth grade were responsible for a project. Parents and the public were then invited to view them at Park Elementary.

Every kiddo has a voice, and they have the ability to make a difference. And I think that that is more of what we need in the world, is folks that are willing to step up so they see a problem, and they know that they can be part of that solution.

Parents and community members walked through Park's hallways admiring the work, and students were excited to explain the projects on display as well as view their classmates' projects.

It gets them jazzed, and our students get to see the real outcomes now and start building those habits and become active members of their community.

The Park Elementary students reminded the public what it means to make a difference and be changemakers in our community.

We're just really proud of our students. Our teachers work so hard at Park Elementary, and our students are incredible and they're passionate.
