Hi, I'm Hillary Knox, VP of member experience at La Plata Electric Association, and this is your LPEA WIRE for October. October is national cooperative month, which reminds us to celebrate the benefits of being members and owners of a not-for-profit local electric cooperative like LPEA. Since our incorporation in 1939, LPEA has existed to bring power and light to all corners of our area, improving lives and powering a strong local economy for you, our members. Cooperatives like LPEA are led by members of the local community, have higher customer satisfaction ratings than other types of utility companies, and best of all, any profits earned are returned to you in the form of capital credits each November. To celebrate national cooperative month, we're giving away a free electric chainsaw to two lucky members who complete our national cooperative month quiz. You can access the quiz in the October LPEA newsletter included in your bill or online at lpea.coop/quiz. Best of luck. Also this month, we encourage you to join us for one of our virtual town hall meetings on LPEA's future power supply options. As you may know, we've been exploring options on how to best source affordable, reliable, and low carbon electricity to power your lives. Join us virtually on Monday, October 25th or Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00 PM to get the latest updates on this process, to learn more about the options still on the table and the upcoming decision points, and to engage in a live Q&A session with us. Participation is free, but pre-registration is required. We know you're busy, so as a bonus for attending, attendees will be entered to win several $50 gift cards to local businesses. Winners will be drawn at the conclusion of each meeting. More details and registration can be found at lpea.com/powersupply. Lastly, it's hunting season and LPA wants to remind you that you can scope your sites for free. Visit the Durango Gun Clubs outdoor range from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on October 14th, 15th, 28th and 29th or November 11th and 12th to cite your scopes for free, a service made possible by LPEA. We wish you a successful, and most importantly, a safe hunting season. And that's it for this October edition of LPEA WIRE. Join us next month with more from LPEA.
