This summer, you are watching the local news Roundup, brought to you by the FLC Center for Innovation and Happy Paps Pizza and Wings. I am Sadie Smith. A kangaroo was on the loose once again. On Monday, May 19th, Durango police were called to capture a loose kangaroo near college and Second Avenue. The caller was worried the rue would get hit by a car for Erwin the pet Kangaroo, the incident marked his second escape this year. Police were called in September when Irwin made his first escape. While kangaroos are unusual pets, they are legal in the state of Colorado. It's almost that time of year when concerts in the park returns. The first concert will be at 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 26th, featuring the Latin band of the series continues every Thursday at Buckley Park through August 7th. Concerts are free. Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blanket and enjoy the music with friends and family. The concerts are presented by Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall in our sponsored by Alpine Bank. Visit the FLC Community Concert Hall for more details. The City of Durango asks residents to limit their water usage. This summer, the request follows an unseasonably dry winter in a rapid spring snow melt that may limit water availability. This summer, irrigation with sprinkler systems is prohibited between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM to reduce evaporation during the day. Residents are also encouraged to fix water leaks, limit indoor and outdoor water usage. Refrain from watering when windy or raining, and forgo any landscape work until the city is no longer under drought conditions. Additional details may be found on the City of Durango website.
