More than 1000 people gathered in Buckley Park on April 5th to protest the Trump administration. The event was organized by advocacy groups in coalition with the National Hands-Off Movement. You are watching the "Local NEWS Network," brought to you by Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers and Dunkin Donuts. I'm Sadie Smith. The Hands-Off protests organized by the Indivisible Project is a nationwide initiative that aims to address concerns over what organizers describe as a hostile takeover of governmental functions under the Trump administration. Protestors advocated for the protection of social security, public lands, federal employment, and Democratic principles.
I'd like it to bring awareness to more people that don't necessarily know what's going on, what needs to be protested about, or choosing to check out from the news. You know, maybe they'll see this happening today and it'll motivate them to look into what's actually going on.
Crowd members held signs and listened to speeches from activists and organizers.
So, there are good people fighting. Let's be loud in solidarity and use our spending, our dollars as power to fight, resist, and make change.
Many protestors expressed fear for the future, citing significant cuts to government agencies and federal jobs, and the newly imposed tariffs, which, as economists predicted, tanked the US stock market.
It's a very frightening thing. I used to teach US history. So, I see what's happening in our country on behalf of the Trump administration, and I find it appalling.
Despite snowy weather. Protestors March Down Main Avenue, chanting their disapproval of President Trump and Elon Musk.
Go. Hey, hey. Ho, ho. Trump and Musk have got to go.
According to national organizers, more than 1200 rallies took place in all 50 states with additional protests reported internationally.
When there's unity, there's power. And however much we can do it and whenever we can, we got to do it as loud and as much as possible.
Anyone in opposition was not found for an interview. Many attendees covered their faces with sunglasses and masks, and a few declined to speak on camera.
