AS THOUSANDS OF WORKERS LOSE THEIR JOBS AND BUSINESSES STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, SOUTHWEST COLORADO HUMAN SERVICE AGENCIES AND NON-PROFITS ARE STRUGGLING TO COPE WITH THE DEMANDS FOR HELP. UNITED WAY AND THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SERVING SOUTHWEST COLORADO HAVE CONTRIBUTED 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO A FUND THAT WILL BE USED TO HELP AREA NON-PROFITS HELP SOUTHWEST COLORADO RESIDENTS HIT HARD BY THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN CAUSED BY THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. EACH AGENCY CONTRIBUTED 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO KICK-START FUNDING FOR THE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND. BRIGGEN WRINKLE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, SAID THE FUNDING WILL BE USED TO HELP WITH HUMAN-SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS THAT ADDRESS FOOD INSECURITY, ESPECIALLY FOR YOUTH AND OLDER ADULTS; RENT AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE, UTILITY ASSISTANCE, AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES.
