Wine enthusiasts gathered in downtown Durango, April 25th and 26th, to sip, savor and support local nonprofits at the annual Durango Wine Experience. You are watching the Local News Network, brought to you by M&R Plumbing and The Payroll Department, I'm Sadie Smith. The Durango Wine Experience is a popular event that invites the community to try exquisite wines and appetizers while supporting local nonprofits.

This is the Durango Wine Experience and it is a fundraiser for the Community Foundation and also a great community builder. So there are hundreds of wines here from all over the world and a few of our spirits, and then some beer locally brewed, and everybody is here to mix and mingle and have fun, and also raise money for the Community Foundation.

The Community Foundation is a nonprofit that helps donor support local causes and nonprofits across Southwest Colorado.

This is the fourth time the Community Foundation has run this event. Brought in the nonprofits, brought in this granting piece. So we grant between 28 and $30,000 in addition to what we make for our operations.

The Durango Wine Experience took place over two days. On Friday, April 25th, wine lovers wandered along Main Avenue to visit stores that served whites and reds with light appetizers. The grand tasting event took place April 26th, at Buckley Park where hundreds of wines were served, along with small bites from Durango restaurants.

It's just been an amazing weekend.

So fun.

It's a perfect time of year.

Yeah.

Where the weather's nice.

Couldn't have asked for a better weekend. This was amazing.

The wine experience raised money for 10 local nonprofits. Each nonprofit received a grant of $2,500.

Durango Wine Experience is a wonderful social event, but more important than that, it's bringing people together. It's community, we really get people to share about what they're doing. The nonprofits mixing and mingling really help to get our community involved and understand what some the nonprofits are doing and how they are supporting our commuting and making it a great place to live, work, and play.

The Durango Wine Festival will return next spring during the last weekend of April. Additional details may be found at durangowine.com. For more information about this and other stories, visit durangolocal.news. Thank you for watching this edition of The Local News Network. I'm Sadie Smith.
