La Plata County's code red alert now will occur a day later than originally scheduled. World-renowned illusionist Leon Etienne will bring his family-friendly show to Durango. La Plata County's code red alert, originally scheduled for April 20th, now we'll be on April 21st. This change was made in consideration of Easter Sunday. On April 21st, everyone in La Plata County will receive a code red emergency alert to encourage residents to sign up for the emergency alert system ahead of wildfire season. World-renowned illusionist Leon Etienne will rock the Community Concert Hall with his internationally acclaimed show "Magic Rocks" on Saturday, April 19th. His performance has appeared on hit shows, such as "America's Got Talent," "Masters of Illusion" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Etienne says he is thrilled to bring magic to Durango for audiences to witness some of the greatest grand illusions in the world. He says, "Now, more than ever, people need magic, wonder and joy." Fort Lewis senior Lacy Miller will debut "Herpetofauna of the Center: "A Collection of Scales" at its opening reception Thursday, April 24th from 12 to 2 PM. The exhibit features pieces that are a part of the Center of Southwest Studies Collections. Miller explores the roles of reptiles and amphibians in art. Her selection features a range of styles, media and cultural contexts. On view through April 2026, the exhibition is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM or by appointment.
