The four Coroner's Motorcycle Rally is back this Labor Day weekend. The Sun Dog Gallery honors the late Stanton Englehart and the Fort Lewis College Director of Athletics stepped down from his role in Durango to accept a new position. The four Coroner's Motorcycle rally returns to the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Thursday through Sunday, August 28th through 31st. This year marks the Motorcycle Rallies 32nd anniversary. The weekend includes live music, stunt shows, demonstrations, artisan vendors, exhibits, rodeo events, and races for tickets and daily schedules. Visit the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally website. Sun Dog Gallery in Mancuss will showcase five decades of art by Stanton Englehart to honor his impact on the local art scene. Englehardt grew up in Cortez and taught art at Fort Lewis College until retiring in 1991. Englehardt died in 2009. This retrospective exhibit will include landscapes inspired by the southwest, intimate compositions, and rare works being shown publicly for the first time. The opening night reception will be on Friday, September 5th from four to 7:00 PM Eng Hart's Art will be on display through Tuesday, September 30th. After three years with the college, Whipple has accepted a role as Vice President of Athletics at Southwest Minnesota State University. During his time at FLC student athletes had a department wide GPA of 3.25. The department also received record support from donors and increased community partnerships. Whipple says he is grateful for his time and experience at FLC and is optimistic about the future of FLC Athletics. Associate Athletic Director for external relations.
