Junction Creek Trailhead will have intermittent closures throughout the summer. The Gem and Mineral Show is just around the corner and get ready to dance. I'm Sadie Smith. If you are planning summer hikes in the Junction Creek area, you'll need to plan around several construction projects that will impact trail access. The Junction Creek Trailhead will see intermittent closures throughout the summer. From Forest Service activities, the biggest disruption comes July 14th through 16th when both Colorado Trailhead parking lots on Junction Creek Road will be closed for repairs and upgrades. Any vehicles left in those lots will be towed and ticketed. However, the dry fork parking lot located west of Junction Creek Trailhead off County Road 2 0 8 will remain open as an alternative throughout June and July. Expect additional delays on the lower sections of Junction Creek Road. Above the lower trail head crews will be regrading and chip sealing the road. Expect construction vehicles delays and short-term closures for summer hiking plans. Check current conditions before you head out. Calling all Gemstone, rock and Fossil lovers. The 71st annual Gem and Mineral Show is just around the corner. Mark your calendars for Friday, July 11th through Sunday, July 13th at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. You'll discover more than 60 booths showcasing crystals, gems, geodes, jewelry, and more daily silent auctions will give you a chance to bid on special pieces. Kids can try their hand at gold panning and geode cutting while food trucks will keep everyone fed throughout the event. Admissions is $5 per day, or you can get a three day pass for $12. Durango's own Desi Dorada returns to Animus City Theater this Friday night, June 20th at 7:00 PM The local band describes their sound as a balance between tight, captivating grooves that make you want to dance and pure meandering musical expression according to the band. Their music reflects the beauty found in our desert and mountain landscapes and friendships, and even in the glow of a neon lit dance floor with a disco ball spinning overhead, Desi Dorada will be joined by the Gallins and all girl indie rock band based out of Boulder, Colorado.
