Durango cyclists joined a global memorial movement Saturday, organizing a solidarity ride to honor Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse shot and killed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on Jan. 24. The ride, inspired by Minneapolis bike shop Angry Catfish and partner cycling groups, aimed to raise local awareness about immigration enforcement as protests erupt nationwide. Just one day before the memorial ride, Durango High School students walked out of class Friday to join nationwide demonstrations against ICE activity, which has intensified under the Trump administration.
